Welcome at the world of Photography through Bianca´s eyes.
_My name is Bianca Welgraaf. 31 years old, living in Dublin,
Ireland. I am native Dutch speaker but live after my twenties in different
countries in Europe. I have lived in Spain, Wales (UK), Austria and
Finland. Now I live 4 years in Ireland.
My free time I spent out of the house. I visit museums, exhibitions and any other tourist attractions. I also like to go away for a weekend. And always I come home with lots of photographs.
But the level of my photography never change. First I stared with a compact. Now I have a Canon 40D camera and see that there is so much more I can do with my camera and photography. And I really love to do other thinks that just clicking. That is why I decide to study photography and try to go toward to a degree.
I hope to give my photo’s an international character. I like to spent time in Ireland and around the world to work on my project. But because I can not be aboard all the time I will make the most of my photo’s for this course in Dublin, Ireland. I hope to show in my photo’s culture, different life style and maybe typical Irish culture as after all I am living in Ireland.
As I live in the capital I have the possibility of taking photograph´s about different people and cultures. People with different habits and lifestyle
During the day I work as a collection analyst for Microsoft (Accenture). I spend all my on phone calls and emails to customers and I have a lot of other administration tasks. This I why I hope to spent my free time more creative.
Before this course I done 1 simple 10 week course of photography and Photoshop. But it was all very basic, almost to basic for me. Also I have done a few courses in webdesign. So hopefully I can use some of those skills in this photography course.
At this moment I also do a online learning course by Lynda.com the company is based in the US, but without any problems I can do courses from Ireland. I really enjoy it and hopefully I can use some skills in my photography course with Oca.

Also In my free-time I organize photo walk meetups. see http://www.meetup.com/PHOTO-WALK/
As I am only a assistant organizer I just organize every two month a meetup more o less. We do than street photography, we go to the zoo, we visit an exhibition or just go to any Irish village where we can spent a couple of hours. Sometimes we do a meetup and have some drinks and talk about photography.
There are several other organizers in our group so we every every few weeks the possibility to come together and learn from each other about photography.
Camera and equipment I am using:
- Canon 40D
- Canon EFS 17-85mm
- Canon 70-300mm
- Sigma 50mm 1:2:8 DG Macro
I can borrow any moment a Canon 7D camera with a 180 mm Canon macro lens if needed. But I would like to do the course with the above lenses I have for my self. But maybe to compare the different it would be a good idea.
As I am working during the day I try to make most photographs during the weekend. I can do the reading and writing, sending photos etc. during the week.
I only have about 20 photo’s on my Flickr, please see the link to Flickr below
